Program Protection Plan with Travel Insurance for AMIGOS Volunteers
AMIGOS and MDM Group are working together to support volunteers on their transformational service and immersion experiences in Latin America. AMIGOS volunteers can purchase an optional program protection plan directly from MDM Group. MDM Group and the insurance company will help volunteers through the process to select coverage. The insurance administrator Co-ordinated Benefits will provide support in the case of plan questions or a claim.
Why do We recommend Travel Insurance?
To protect your investment and guard against unforeseen expenses, AMIGOS and MDM Group recommends
obtaining travel insurance. AMIGOS and MDM Group offer a program protection plan which includes
travel insurance.
Some of the relevant risks to consider include:
- Sports injuries or other incidents resulting in a physical injury in the days leading up to your program
- Flight delays or other travel delays
- An injury or illness which requires medical evacuation or separation from the program
Plan design may vary depending on the state. Your options for coverage will depend on factors like citizenship and place of legal residence.
Things to look for when purchasing tickets and evaluating travel insurance options include:
- Coverage for airfare and program fees in case of cancellation or interruption
- Coverage for additional out-of-pocket expenses related to travel delays or baggage delays

What does program protection with travel insurance cost?
You can protect your investment for a cost of 6.5% of your total costs. This plan cost includes insurance benefits
and non-insurance travel assistance services.
